LocWorld32: a Chance to Meet Your Friendly Localization Experts

LocWorld has been a meeting place for localization experts and their clients since 2003. From its humble beginnings, the conference has grown into a major industry event, held three times a year on three different continents. With the 32nd edition coming up in Montreal at the end of October 2016, I recently interviewed LocWorld co-founder and organizer Donna Parrish for episode #030 of The Worldly Marketer Podcast. In this post, I share some highlights from that conversation.

4 More Expert Takeaways for Worldly Marketers

In my previous post, I shared four of my favourite takeaways from the first four episodes of The Worldly Marketer Podcast. They addressed questions around identifying which foreign markets to target, how much localization you’ll need to do, why you should take an interest in local pop culture, and how Google Trends can reveal new international opportunities.

In this post, I’m going to share four more must-know takeaways that any global-minded business owner or marketer should heed – this time from episodes 5 to 8 of the podcast.

Fresh from the Experts: 4 Tasty Takeaways for Worldly Marketers

The best thing about producing The Worldly Marketer Podcast hasn’t been the number of downloads or the increased traffic to my website – though I’m rather chuffed about my analytics since the launch. And as much as I love the new social media engagement I’m getting, that’s not the best thing either. It’s not even the personal satisfaction I get from practicing my new podcasting skills, though I’ve come to really enjoy that aspect of it. These are all great things, to be sure. But there’s one benefit I appreciate most of all, and it’s the biggest motivator for me to continue with this new content channel. Continue reading

A dozen episodes so far, with well over 500 downloads across 27 countries – and counting! As I write this, The Worldly Marketer Podcast has been available for barely two weeks and, already, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. I hope you keep joining me for a new episode of #TWMPodcast every week. Continue reading

A New Podcast About International and Global Marketing Is Coming Your Way!

If you read my previous blog post to the very end, you know that Verbaccino is about to launch a new content channel: The Worldly Marketer Podcast. For anyone not familiar with podcasts, it’s audio-on-demand that you can stream or download to your digital devices – radio shows, essentially, except that you can listen to them whenever and where ever you want. Beginning in May 2016, one of those podcasts will be a weekly interview-format show featuring experts from the world of international and global marketing. Continue reading

10 Great Podcasts for Global-Minded Marketers

When it comes to business, entrepreneurship and marketing, there are so many excellent podcasts out there, it’s impossible to keep up with them all. However, if you’re looking for podcasts that deal specifically with “going global” in the Digital Age, the selection is much more limited. Still, these 10 podcasts make a great starting point if you’re interested in a more international perspective on business and marketing. (Updated on January 2, 2017.) Continue reading

The Mind-Boggling Potential of Global D-Commerce

E-commerce is now part of everyone’s vocabulary. No matter how you spell it (ecommerce? eCommerce? Ecommerce? e-commerce? e-Commerce?), we all know it stands for electronic commerce. But what about D-commerce? Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of it. Most people haven’t. But it’s already changing billions of lives. Continue reading

10 More Recommended Resources for International Marketers

In a previous blog post, I listed 10 websites that I would recommend to any marketing professional or business owner who is looking for a more international perspective. Of course, that list was not meant to be exhaustive. So here are 10 more resources that I highly recommend and are definitely worth bookmarking. Continue reading

Have Content, Will Travel: Marketing to Today’s Global Customers

Content marketing, in a nutshell, is the process of creating and freely sharing relevant material that your target audience will find valuable in some way. It could be educational, entertaining or inspirational. What it should never be is “salesy”.

The idea of content marketing is nothing new, of course. At its best, content marketing is simply good storytelling. As human beings, we all love a good story – no matter where in the world we live or which language we speak.

If you’re expanding your business into foreign markets, however, your approach to content marketing could be the difference between success and failure. Continue reading

Top 10 Languages for Global eCommerce (Besides English)

Do have an online business? Are you trying to grow a more international customer base? Smart thinking. We all know that the Internet is a much bigger, much more diverse place than it was even 10 years ago. According to Internet World Stats, there are now  3,345,832,772 active Internet users in the world. That’s over 3 billion – almost half the global population. Of those Internet users, only 9.4% are in North America, even though it’s the continent with highest penetration rate (88%). So where are the other 90.6% of the world’s Internet users? And what languages do they speak? Continue reading
